Check out these beets - not your ordinary looking beets!

The reason there's no food on these plates (aside from the decorative beets themselves) is because I'm just not capable of cooking up a meal to match this caliber of presentation.

3 follow ups from reading Omnivore's Dilemma

I'm just nearing the end of Omnivore's Dilemma by Michael Pollan. Great book everyone should read. Not overly gross, but definitely some changes to my diet I've been "inspired" to make:

  • Buy grass-fed beef -- no more feedlot corn-fed stuff.
  • The production of eggs is particularly nuts too. Going to pay the extra few bucks to buy from the farmer's market or do a little homework and figure out which of the "organic" brands at the supermarket actually holds up to the advertising.
  • I want to hunt an animal, cook it and eat it -- I've never really been interested in hunting before, but I think I'd like to cement that connection with what I'm eating.
